If your original switch works fine, but the Simple Motion Switch does not work properly or at all, follow the below steps.

1. Check Compatibility

Make sure the Simple Motion Sensor Switch is installed in a compatible circuit. The Simple Motion Sensor Switch will only work in single pole applications, which are lights controlled by a single switch. Bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and the pantry are common. If there are two or more switches controlling the light, like how a hallway has a switch at each end, then the Simple Motion Sensor Switch is not going to work properly.

If the light the Simple Motion Sensor Switch is controlling only has a single switch, then it is in a compatible circuit and we can go on to the next step in troubleshooting.

2. Try the Simple Motion Sensor Switch in a Different Compatible Location

If there is a Smart Switch for the front door light, this can be a great place to try. After installing the motion switch, wait a minute and check if the light can be turned on and off.
