The Deako bridge device is the single Deako device on your network that maintains a direct connection to the Control4 controller. All communication between Control4 and your Deako lighting loads flows through this bridge. This guide covers how to change which device serves as the bridge.
Device Generations
The bridge device must match the Deako Connect driver. If you are using the Chowmain driver, the bridge can be a Gen 1 or Gen 2 device. If you are using the legacy driver, only Gen 1 devices can serve as the bridge. With either driver, both Gen1 and Gen2 devices can be nodes.
| Generation | Serial Number Prefix | Driver |
|---|---|---|
| Gen 1 | 221, 231, 232, 233 | Chowmain or Legacy |
| Gen 2 | 322 | Chowmain only |
Best practice: Use a Gen 2 device as the bridge if one is installed in the home.
Changing the Bridge
- Disconnect the Current Bridge
In Composer Pro, navigate to Connections > Network. Right-click the Deako Connect driver and disconnect the current bridge device if necessary. Assign the New Bridge
Identify the device you want to serve as the new bridge. Bind it to the Deako driver. The device status should show as online almost immediately. If the device does not come online, power cycle the Deako device and refresh in Control4, or select a different device.
Note: You do not need to re-run Auto Setup. If Deako was already configured, your existing device list, devices, and programming will remain intact.
