Important
This section is for Smart Scene Controller devices only. If you have a Smart Switch, check out our Smart Switch Guide. If you have a Smart Dimmer, use our Smart Dimmer Guide. If you're not sure, contact our support team.
Before resetting please read the following
Factory reset a device to erase all information from it including name, schedules, scenes, timers, and groups for Smart Scene Controller switches and dimmers.
- First, Pull the blue tab outwards to disconnect the Deako Switch.
2. Second, While pressing the switch inwards, push in the blue tab to lock the switch.
3. Third, immediately press and hold the switch until the 1, 2, and 3 icons appear.
4. Lastly, tap the 3 icon, then the 2 icon, then the 1 icon in order (tap them lightly, do not press the switch). Your switch will be factory reset once the icons stop flashing (about 30 seconds).
-
Press and hold one of the switches in the circuit until the switch flashes.
If nothing happens, try the next switch in the circuit (the switch you just tried is likely not powered).
2. To put the switch into linking mode, tap the 1 icon (the icon will begin flashing)
3. Repeat, step 1& 2 for each switch until you reach the last switch in the set
The 1 icon must be flashing on every switch in the circuit before continuing to the next step.
4. Tap the 2 icon on the last switch
- Confirm that the 1 icon is flashing on every switch in the circuit
- Once confirmed, tap the 2 icon on the switch in the load location, the last location you installed a switch (How to Identify Line & Load Locations)
- Wait for all switches in the circuit to stop flashing. The switches may restart multiple times (this is normal). Once they have stopped, 3-way & 4-way setup is complete.
To exit linking mode, press and hold the switch for 6 seconds. Then before retrying, factory reset each switch in the circuit.

If you currently own a Scene controller you may start to wonder how you can use it with other switches in our device line.
Currently our Scene controllers only work successfully with each other, but there are some exceptions to this but they are only related to Gen 1/Simple switches.
Below are a list of the switches you can expect to work along side the Scene controller, if you don't see the switch you want to use in this list then it is not compatible, therefore it will not work.
Dimmer adjustment allows for the optimal dimming experience no matter what. These settings help prevent your lights from flickering and give you better control over dimming by allowing you to set the minimum and maximum dim level for your light. This is sometimes referred to as trim.
Before you begin...
- Install Deako smart products in your home
- Link Scene Controllers that manually control the same lights
- Download the Deako App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Add your switches to the Deako App
Adjust the dim range
Navigate to the Home page of the Deako app
Tap edit in the upper right to enter edit mode.
Tap the arrow to the right of the light you would like to change the settings for.
Select your bulb type
Your dimmer will be set to default automatically. Select LED if your dimmer is controlling LED bulbs and Incandescent if your dimmer is controlling incandescent bulbs.
Set min dim level
To adjust minimum dim level, tap into min and use the slider and adjust the level so the light is on but just visible.
Tip: if you are using an LED bulb, you may need to move the min slider far up and then move it down to the lowest dim. This is because the energy required to turn on an LED is higher than the energy required to keep it on at a low dim level.
Return to dimmer settings
Hit back in the upper left to return to dimmer settings.
Set max dim level
Most of the time maximum dim level does not need to be adjusted. For a little bit of energy savings, you can use the slider to adjust the level down until you notice a change in the brightness. A good level to start is around 85%.
Then shift slider back up to just before you noticed the lights dim. This ensures the light is using the least amount of energy for the highest possible brightness.
Return to dimmer settings
Hit back in the upper left to return to dimmer settings.
Save your settings
Hit Save in the upper right corner to save your settings. You can navigate back to your switch’s setting page at any time if you wish to change your settings.
If your lights are flickering after installing a Scene Controller Dimmer, follow these initial steps for troubleshooting.
1. Check the light bulbs
Are the light bulbs in use dimmable?
Not all light bulbs support dimming. Check our Scene Controller Dimmer Specs to ensure your bulb type is supported.
How many light bulbs are being controlled by the switch?
Count how many light bulbs are being dimmed by one switch. If there are many bulbs, check the total wattage in use against our Scene Controller Dimmer Specs.
2. Check the fixture
Deako Scene Controller Dimmers operate through reverse-phase dimming (also known as trailing edge dimming) and support ELV fixtures.
3. Check the wiring
Deako backplate wires are polarity sensitive.
If you experience flickering on a light bulb that is physically controlled by more than one switch, have an electrician check the wiring to ensure:
-
The neutral wire for the fixture is connected to the same neutral as the switch.
-
Travelers are not crossed between the two switches.
Lights still flickering?

The LED icons on a Deako Smart Scene Controller Switch or Dimmer will light up throughout the setup process, here’s a breakdown of what each icon means.
What do you see?
1 icon is on: ready to pair or link
The switch is indicating it is ready to be paired to your app or linked to another switch in a multi-way. If you aren’t trying to do either of those things, you can tap the three little boxes in the upper left to exit this mode.
1 icon is flashing, 2 icon on: linking mode
Linking mode is part of the process of connecting multiple switches. (See Installing a Set of Switches) To exit this mode, tap the three little boxes in the upper left to exit.
3 is on: factory reset mode
Factory resetting is just a fancy way of saying your switch will go back to the way it was when it came out of the box. To exit this mode, tap the scene menu in the upper left. To continue with the factory reset, check out Factory Reset a Deako Switch.
Trying to get to linking mode?
Hit the scene menu in the upper left to exit factory reset mode and then try again.
1, 2, and 3 icons pulsing: pairing or linking
This means the switch is in the process of pairing to your app or linking to another switch. To exit this mode, hold down the switch for about 6 seconds.
Scene menu icon: scenes assigned to switch
This means you have 1 or more scenes assigned to the switch. Tap the scene menu to bring up the 1, 2, and/or 3 icons and tap any of them to execute the corresponding scene. If you see this when attempting to link a switch to another switch, you will likely need to factory reset the switch before continuing.
Didn’t mean to assign scene(s) to this switch?
Edit the scene in your app to change what switch (if any) you’d like it assigned to.
Don’t want the scene menu to show up?
Navigate to the home page in the Deako app. Tap Edit in the upper right, then tap the arrow to the right of the switch, then set Toggle Kebab to off.
Trying to link your switches and see the scene menu after holding down your switch?
Your switch thinks it has already been linked! Try factory resetting your switch and starting again.
