The Simple Dimmer Switch is a great option for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens where you want control over the brightness of your lights.
Follow these steps to get your switch up and running.
1. Confirm it’s the right fit
The Simple Dimmer Switch works in all circuit types — whether a light is controlled by one switch or multiple switches, the Simple Dimmer Switch will function.
However, there are a few important notes:
-
Only one Simple Dimmer Switch can be used per circuit.
Example: If your living room has 2 switches, replace only one with the Simple Dimmer Switch and leave the other as a standard rocker switch.
-
If the light has 3 or more switches controlling it, the Simple Dimmer Switch will only work in 2 of those locations.
If the light doesn’t turn on after installing, move the Simple Dimmer Switch to a different location.
This is because the Simple Dimmer Switch is not a 4-way switch.
2. Install the Simple Dimmer Switch
Grab the faceplate and pull it off to remove the existing switch’s faceplate.
Pull the blue tab on the backplate to release the old switch (this mechanically and electrically disconnects it), then remove the old switch.
Insert the Simple Dimmer Switch into the backplate.
Gently push the Simple Dimmer Switch in while pushing the blue tab back in to lock the switch in place and connect it electrically.
Snap the faceplate back on to complete installation.
That’s it — no tools, breaker shutoff, or electrician required.

Troubleshooting
My light works fine at 100% brightness, but flickers rapidly when dimmed.
Check if the light bulb is dimmable. Non-dimmable bulbs often flicker or strobe when used with dimmers.
My light dims, but doesn't work well or turns off entirely at lower dimming levels.
Different lights support different dimming ranges. Some dim smoothly down to candlelight, while others only dim part-way.
The Simple Dimmer Switch includes a trim adjustment wheel that sets how low the voltage drops when dimmed.
Follow our guide: How to Adjust the Dimmer Trim Range
My lights flicker randomly or intermittently.
This may be caused by other devices on the same circuit, or other electrical factors. Contact Deako Support for help diagnosing.
My Simple Dimmer Switch doesn’t work at all.
Confirm how many switches control the light. If there are 3 or more switches, the Simple Dimmer Switch may not function in certain locations.
Move it to one of the other switches in the circuit to restore operation.
