The beacon light bar is the illuminated strip on the bottom front of your Smart Switch (Gen2). It provides helpful visual cues, and you can choose how it behaves by selecting a Beacon Mode in the Deako app.

Requirements

• Beacon Modes are available on Smart Switch Gen2 devices only.
• The switch must be added to the Deako app before you can enable Beacon Modes.

Beacon Modes

Locator Mode: Beacon light bar softly illuminates when the switch is off
Status Mode: Beacon light bar illuminates when the switch is on

Note: The beacon light bar may also flash other colors during system actions like installation, reset, or linking. Those behaviors are automatic and separate from the Beacon Modes you control.

How to Enable or Change Beacon Modes

1. Open the Deako app and make sure your Smart Switch Gen2 is already added.
2. On the home screen, tap the gear icon, then select Edit
3. On the Edit Home page, select the pencil of the switch
4. Choose either:
   • Locator Mode (beacon light bar on when switch is off), or
   • Status Mode (beacon light bar on when switch is on).
5. The beacon light bar will immediately follow the selected mode.
6. Press save

Multiway Behavior

If your Smart Switch Gen2 is part of a multiway setup (for example, two switches in a hallway):

• When you enable a Beacon Mode, it will apply to all switches in that multiway that are added to the app.
• If only one switch in the multiway has been added to the app, only that switch’s beacon light bar will follow the selected mode.
• To enable beacon mode on the other switches in the multiway, be sure to add each of them to the app.

Summary

The beacon light bar on your Smart Switch Gen2 can be set to:

• Locator Mode — softly illuminated when the switch is off (find it in the dark).
• Status Mode — softly illuminated when the switch is on (see if lights are on out of sight).
