The Simple Ceiling Fan Speed Controller is designed for controlling ceiling fans with AC motors. It lets you turn your fan on/off and adjust between high, medium, and low speeds.
Follow these steps to get your switch up and running.
1. Confirm it’s the right fit
The Simple Ceiling Fan Speed Controller is a single-pole switch, designed specifically for ceiling fans with AC motors (these usually have pull chains).
Popular use: Living rooms, bedrooms, or any location with a ceiling fan that has a pull chain.
Not a good fit: Ceiling fans with DC motors or integrated lights.
DC motor fans usually have a remote control and a built-in light.
This switch cannot control integrated lights — the light must be controlled separately by another switch.
2. Install the Simple Ceiling Fan Speed Controller
Grab the faceplate and pull it off to remove the existing switch’s faceplate.
Pull the blue tab on the backplate to release the old switch (this mechanically and electrically disconnects it), then remove the old switch.
Insert the Simple Ceiling Fan Speed Controller into the backplate.
Gently push the switch in while pushing the blue tab back in to lock it in place and connect it electrically.
Snap the faceplate back on to complete installation.
That’s it — no tools, breaker shutoff, or electrician required.

My fan doesn’t work with the Simple Ceiling Fan Speed Controller.
Make sure your fan has an AC motor and no integrated light.
If your fan has a DC motor or built-in light (often controlled by a remote), this switch will not work.
