The Simple Timer Switch is a great option for controlling bathroom exhaust fans or other fixtures where you want the light or fan to automatically shut off after a set time.
Follow these steps to get your switch up and running.
1. Confirm it’s the right fit
The Simple Timer Switch is a single-pole switch. This means it is designed specifically for lights or fans controlled by a single switch.
Popular locations: Bathrooms (exhaust fans)
Not a good fit: Hallways or stairwells with multiple switches controlling the same light (sometimes called 3-way or 4-way circuits)
If your fan/light is controlled by just 1 switch, the Simple Timer Switch will work correctly.
If your fan/light is controlled by two or more switches, the Simple Timer Switch will not work correctly.
2. Install the Simple Timer Switch
Grab the faceplate and pull it off to remove the existing switch’s faceplate.
Pull the blue tab on the backplate to release the old switch (this mechanically and electrically disconnects it), then remove the old switch.
Insert the Simple Timer Switch into the backplate.
Gently push the Simple Timer Switch in while pushing the blue tab back in to lock the switch in place and connect it electrically.
Snap the faceplate back on to complete installation.
That’s it — no tools, breaker shutoff, or electrician required.

3. Wait for startup
Once installed, the switch will begin its startup process.
The LEDs on the Simple Timer Switch will play a sequence as it powers up.
Startup only takes a few seconds.
4. Using the Simple Timer Switch
Press the 10, 30, or 60 minute buttons to turn the switch on for that amount of time. The fan/light will automatically shut off when the time is up.
-
Press the top of the rocker to turn on the switch using the last selected duration.
Example: If you pressed 10 minutes previously, pressing the rocker next time will also run it for 10 minutes.
Press the bottom of the rocker to turn the switch off immediately.
Press and hold the top of the rocker to turn it on continuously until you turn it off manually.
Troubleshooting
My Simple Timer Switch won’t power on (no LEDs light up).
Confirm it’s installed in a single-pole location (only one switch controls the fan/light).
-
The Simple Timer Switch requires a neutral wire connected to the backplate to work.
The Simple Rocker Switch does not require neutral, but this one does.
Try installing the Simple Timer Switch in another single-pole location in your home to confirm.
