To control your switches remotely through the Deako app, use schedules, or control your switches through integrations like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Alarm.com, your Smart Switches and Smart Dimmers need to be connected to Wi-Fi.
This guide is especially helpful if your Wi-Fi network name or password has changed — for example, if you recently switched internet service providers.
Steps to Reconnect Your Device
If your Deako switch won’t connect to Wi-Fi or shows as offline, follow these steps to reconnect it.
1. Prepare your setup
Be at home and near your switches.
-
Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network you want your switches to use.
Connecting your phone confirms the network name and password are correct.
2. Confirm Bluetooth connection
Stand within sight of one of your lights controlled by a smart switch.
In the Deako app, turn that switch on and off to verify your phone has a Bluetooth connection with the switches.
3. Send Wi-Fi credentials to your switches
In the Deako app, tap the Settings gear icon on the home page
Select Wi-Fi Settings.
Tap Network.
Enter your network name and password.
Tap Continue.
The app will automatically send your Wi-Fi information to nearby switches over Bluetooth.
Wait until all your switches are updated with the new Wi-Fi credentials.
*If not all switches successfully connect, the ones that did connect will typically bring the others online automatically within 24 hours.
4. If the switches still won’t connect
-
Double-check that your Wi-Fi name and password are entered correctly.
Look for similar-looking characters like lowercase 'L' (l) vs uppercase 'i' (I), or number 0 vs letter O.
Tip: On iPhone, go to Settings › Wi-Fi › (i) next to your network to view and copy the password.
Deako switches connect only to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz.
If you’re still having issues:
Delete one switch from the app (a single-pole switch works best).
Factory reset that switch.
Add it back to the app.
On the final setup step, wait to see if the app shows Connected or Failed to connect.
If it still fails after all these steps, contact our support team for further help.
