If a schedule fired earlier than you expected say, an hour before it got fully dark outside, that's not a bug. It's how the Deako app defines sunrise and sunset.
Why the times look different from a weather app
The Deako app uses civil twilight, not the exact moment the sun crosses the horizon:
- Sunrise = start of civil twilight (when it begins getting light, before the sun appears)
- Sunset = end of civil twilight (when it finishes getting dark, after the sun disappears)
In practice, that means your sunrise schedule may fire 20–40 minutes before the sun actually rises, and your sunset schedule may fire 20–40 minutes after the sun actually sets depending on your location and the time of year. Weather apps typically show the exact moment of sunrise or sunset, so the times won't match.
We use civil twilight because it matches what the light outside your windows actually looks like. A light that comes on at the start of dusk feels natural. A light that waits until full dark feels late.
How to see exactly when your schedule will run
Go to the Automations tab in the bottom tray. The next scheduled time appears directly on each schedule card.
If the time still looks off after checking your schedule, confirm your home's location is set correctly in the app. Go to Settings, then Home Settings, and verify your address. An incorrect address will produce incorrect sunrise and sunset times.
