One of the largest causes of connection issues is a typo in the network name or password. Both are case sensitive and have to match exactly. Below are some common goofs.
| Entered | Actual | Issue |
|---|---|---|
| spectrumsetup1a2b | SpectrumSetup-1A2B | lowercase s instead of uppercase, and the dash is missing |
| NETGEARO5 | NETGEAR05 | capital letter O instead of the number zero |
| Linksys_l234 | Linksys_1234 | lowercase L instead of the number one |
| MyHome-5G | MyHome | that's the 5 GHz network, switches use 2.4 GHz only |
Also worth a second look: S against 5, and B against 8.
How to be sure
- Connect your phone to the network you want your switches on.
- Copy the password from your phone. On iPhone: Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the ⓘ next to your network → Password → confirm with Face ID → Copy.
- Back in the Deako app, type the network name carefully and paste the password.
- Retry.
Gen 2 switches: pick your network from the list instead of typing it.
Still not connecting?
If the network name and password are definitely right, the cause is somewhere else.
