Can I use the new Smart Switch in the same home as Deako’s other Smart Switches and Dimmers?
Yes. They will work side by side in the same home.
Can I use the new Smart Switches in the same multiway circuit as Deako’s existing Smart Switches and Dimmers?
No. You cannot mix existing and new models in the same multiway circuit. For example, if you’re installing Smart Switches in a hallway, all switches controlling the hallway lights must be from the same generation.
Do all switches in a multiway circuit still need to be changed to Smart Switches?
Yes, for proper performance. You cannot mix Simple and Smart devices (or different generations of Smart Switches) in the same circuit.
What if I mix new and old Smart Switches in the same multiway circuit?
They will not be able to link with each other, so each switch will act as a single pole switch. This will prevent them from functioning properly as normal wall switches—you may need to press one switch and then the other to control the light.
What if I put a Smart Switch in a multiway circuit and leave the other one(s) as a Simple Switch?
The different switches won’t work well together and may cause the Simple Switches to do nothing, or require the Simple Switches to be in a certain position for the Smart Switch to control the light. This can result in confusing behavior.
Can I still use the old Deako app?
No. The new app replaced the previous version and is required to use Gen 2 Smart Switches.
