Dead-end 3-way wiring with Deako Backplates
When installing Deako Backplates in a dead-end 3-way, they must be wired according to what type of Deako Switch you are intending to install there.

Dead-end 3-way wiring for Simple Switches
1. Turn the power off
2. Strip existing wall wires
Strip the wires coming out of the wall to 3/8’’.
Do not shorten Deako Backplate wires.
3. Trim yellow wire on both Deako Backplates
Using wire cutters, trim the yellow wire on both Deako Backplates so that it is flush to the plastic (you will not need this wire).
4. Connect wires
Using wire nuts, connect the wires as shown in the diagram above.
For identifying wires in a dead-end 3-way or if you encounter an issue, we highly recommend consulting a professional electrician.
5. Screw in Deako Backplates
- Carefuly manage wires into the junction box
- Once backplate can be pressed flush to wall, screw the Deako Backplate into the junction box using included screws
6. Turn the power on
Identify the appropriate circuit breaker at your panel and flip it to the on position.
What's next?
Now that you have installed Deako Backplates in a dead-end 3-way circuit for Simple Switches, you can now install Deako Simple Switches into them without even having to turn off the power!
Dead-end 3-way wiring for Smart Switches & Smart Dimmers
